Triathlon Training Day 22 – Workout of Champions

December 2, 2015

This morning was kind of surreal. It was as if I had walked into the “Great Athlete Hall of Fame.” Today is a swim day. I’m blessed to be coached by an amazing athlete and Ultramarathoner Marci Lamoreaux. I entered the pool area and would you believe that sitting in the hot tub chatting with my coach was an amazing Triathlete Ashley Jensen Paulson.

Of course Marci knows her because @UtahTriCoach (as Marci is known) knows all the amazing endurance athletes in Utah. I start my workout and because the pool is full Ashley asks if she can split the lane with me. Ashley is very nice and encourages me on my triathlon journey. She even tries to get my to swim faster by challenging me to a race. So we swim for a bit and who walks in the room? None other than the world record holder for 50 Iron Mans, in 50 States, in 50 Days, The Iron Cowboy James Lawrence.

So we all chat for a bit and then it is time to get back to the swimming workout. After about 30 more minutes and few more drills, in walks Aaron Samudio who is the only person I’ve ever met who has run the race in Copper Canyon in Mexico with the fabled Tarahumara Indians. He actually met Caballo Blanco from the book Born to Run.

After the workout I stood in awe of the people I chatted with this morning. It amazes me still. Only getting trained by Marci Lamoreaux from Elevate Fitness Utah could I have had this experience.
